Fab 5 Friday: What Beauty Secrets Are You Hiding, How to Wear Radiant Orchid and More

Do you have any beauty resolutions for 2014?

Me?  I am going to be more vigilant about washing my face at night.  I can get lazy and fall asleep with a full-face of TV makeup slathered on my face.  I am also going to experiment more with my makeup and get out of my eye makeup rut.

On to the fun stuff.  Here are five fabulous things that were on my radar this week:

Beauty Secrets Galore
You MUST to read this story on about the beauty secrets women keep from men.   From shaving our toes and plucking random facial hair to wearing chicken filets to help enhance our cleavage, this is an enlightening look into our insecurities. Candidly, I'm surprised Botox and fillers aren't on the list.

Ways to Save on Beauty in 2014
Sephora Beauty Insider Program
Sephora Beauty Insider Program
Yahoo Shine offers advice on saving when it comes to your beauty products.  These are practical tips like buying quality products and using rewards cards (I love the Sephora Beauty Insider Program).  There are also tips to help make your products last longer like putting them in the refrigerator.

Alphabet Creams
DD Cream
What do they really do?  BB cream?  CC cream?  We'll see DD & EE creams soon.  Elle magazine does a solid job explaining them.  Apparently EE (extra exfoliation) creams are the hot new thing and will debut this March.  Eh, I'm not so convinced.  I like my Clarisonic just fine.

Burt's Bees Hydrating Mask

This isn't anything new but the cold weather is making my normal to oily skin dry and parched.  I have been using this mask which features Clary Sage that reportedly helps the skin retain moisture.  I use it once or twice a week and follow it with my evening creams and serums.  It works.  My face feels quenched after using it.

And, finally, we know that Radiant Orchid is Pantone's color of 2014.  What does that mean for your beauty routine?  How can you actually wear Radiant Orchid and not look like a clown? does a great job of finding realistic Radiant Orchid products that are wearable like YSL's Pur Couture Glossy Stain Lip Gloss in Fugitive Fuschia.

Of course, nail polish is an easy to way to wear Radiant Orchid. suggests the following:

Essie's Warm & Toasty Turtleneck

Both of these are fun, wearable colors that are great year round, IMO.
